3 Reasons Why Fertrell’s Soil Tests are Better

If you have used our soil testing services at Fertrell, you have probably realized that we don’t process your soil tests at our facility. We have our customers send their soil samples to an independent laboratory for analysis. The soil analysis results we provide are not necessarily better than results from other reputable soil testing labs across the country. We do however make sure that the labs we work with provide a thorough analysis of your soil.

Fertrell’s Liquid 3-4-3

Fertrell Liquid 3-4-3 is formulated to meet the nutritional demands of high producing crops in a liquid fertilization program, a supplemental drip or foliar program. It is a balanced NPK product that contains kelp, liquid humates, fish emulsion, and sodium nitrate. These provide a boost at planting time or during the growing season by increasing nutrient uptake and stimulating soil biology.

Garlic…Garlic…Garlic

Garlic seems like an untimely subject, but around this time of the year I find myself focused on garlic. I work on preserving the garlic that is left in the pantry from last year, and also start tending to my new garlic plants that are coming up out of the ground. I have been growing garlic for decades.

Kelp Meal – Dual Purpose Product

Our Kelp Meal can be used both as a soil amendment and for livestock. Fertrell suggest using our Kelp Meal in both scenarios.

Fertrell Specialty Fertilizers: Berry Mix & Holly Care

Fertrell Specialty Fertilizers: Berry Mix & Holly Care

Berry Mix is a unique Fertrell product used in berry fertility programs. Berry Mix is effective when used on blueberries, strawberries, and all brambles including raspberries, blackberries and black caps. It is a blended plant food specially designed to grow more, bigger, and tastier berries. It has an analysis of 4-2-4, with added Sulfur, Boron and Zinc. It works in most soil types and is safe and easy to use. Additionally, Fertrell’s Berry Mix can be certified organic, but please contact your certifier before using.
Berry Mix is applied in early spring to get berry growth started off right for the season. Typical spring application rates are 4-6 lbs. per 100-foot row, depending on the type of berry. Berry Mix is also applied late in the season, after harvesting, so that nutrients can be absorbed in the plants’ roots preparing the them for heavy fruit production the following spring. Typical late season application rates are 6–10 lbs. per 100-foot row, depending on berry type. Information about the complete Fertrell Berry Care Program is available in our Farm and Garden catalog or by contacting one of our agronomists. It is especially important to note that blueberries, which thrive in acidic soils, require additional amendments to maximize production.

New Products - Beneficial Soil Bacteria!

Fertrell is proud to introduce two new products that can benefit your soil - Fertrell Beneficial Biology and Fertrell Mychorrizae Plus.

Fertrell's Green Potash

Green Potash is a Fertrell product containing zeolite and algae potash with an analysis of 0-0-15. The zeolite component has potential to loosen heavy soils and increase water holding capacity. This unique structure of zeolite also enables it to effectively exchange minerals and nutrients. Essentially zeolite has the ability to loosely hold potassium and other nutrients in suspension, which keeps them readily available for plant uptake.

How to use Kelp Meal

Our Fertrell North Atlantic Kelp Meal can be used both as a soil amendment and for livestock. Below you will find the ways we suggest using our Kelp Meal in both scenarios.

Getting Started with Soil Blocking

Soil blocking is a method of starting and transplanting seedlings that minimizes root system disturbance. Soil blocks are made by compressing soil into small cubes that are able to hold together without any sort of container. Seeds can be started in small blocks then easily inserted into progressively larger blocks until they are ready to go directly into the ground.
