Pleasant Pastures: Four Decades of Regeneration, Real Food, and Fertrell
In Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, Pleasant Pastures is more than a farm, it’s a living, growing legacy.
Daniel Stoltzfus and his wife, alongside their five children, now steward the 67-acre farm that Daniel’s father operated for roughly 40 years.
What began as one generation’s commitment to quality agriculture has evolved into a thriving, regenerative operation serving nearly 500 families each week through a subscription-style model offering pasture-raised meats and dairy.
Their slogan says it best: Know your farmer. Trust your food.
And when you step onto the farm, you feel it immediately. Visitors are welcomed by the farm dogs (Jenny and Josh eagerly met me at the gate), open pasture, and livestock grazing quietly across well-managed fields. This is farming with intention.
Regeneration at the Root
Pleasant Pastures is deeply focused on soil health and regenerative grazing practices. Fields are given extended rest periods, anywhere from 30 to 90 days, allowing forage to fully recover before livestock rotate back through. This careful management supports soil biology, plant diversity, and long-term productivity.
With approximately:
35 active dairy cows
5 calves
Roughly 1,100 chickens
Pastured hogs
Partnerships with neighboring farms
…the scale is significant, but the mindset remains relational and hands-on.
The Lapp family’s goal is simple but powerful: produce food from regenerative, living soils in a way that protects both the land and the health of the families they serve.
Feeding 500 Families a Week
Pleasant Pastures operates on a membership-style ordering system. Customers order online, then receive home delivery or meet at designated pickup locations. It’s a model that bridges traditional farming with modern convenience, without sacrificing transparency.
From 100% grass-fed dairy to pasture-raised meats and eggs, the emphasis is always on quality, animal welfare, and nutritional density.
A 40-Year Fertrell Partnership
As Fertrell celebrates 80 years of supporting farmers, Pleasant Pastures represents the kind of long-term relationship that defines generational agriculture.
The Stoltzfus family has trusted Fertrell for approximately 40 years to meet their livestock nutritional needs. From Poultry Nutri-Balancer to Heifer’s Choice, Beef Balancer, and Swine Nutri-Balancer, Fertrell products have played a consistent role in supporting animal health across multiple generations of this farm.
That continuity matters.
When you’re focused on regenerative grazing, soil biology, and long rest cycles, your nutrition program must align with those values. Fertrell’s balanced mineral programs help support healthy livestock without compromising the integrity of pasture-based systems.
For Daniel, it isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about staying rooted in proven practices, and working with partners who understand the long game.
Real Food from a Real Farm
Pleasant Pastures isn’t just producing food, they’re cultivating trust. Every grazing cycle, every delivery box, every carefully balanced ration contributes to a system designed for longevity.
As Fertrell marks eight decades of serving farms across the country, stories like Pleasant Pastures remind us what that legacy looks like in practice: families farming together, soils regenerating year after year, livestock thriving, and communities nourished.
Know your farmer. Trust your food.
And sometimes, trust the mineral program that’s been quietly supporting both for nearly half a century. Check out Pleasant Pastures website and learn more HERE.
